Provisional Production Schedule

Casting and Crew.

Locations

Logistics

I have estimated a provisional production schedule of my personal deadlines to make this project liable. From start to finish I have planned a schedule according to my previous experience working with clients and doing photography work. It is very important to be able to communicate correct information to my clients and crew because it is professional. Everyone needs to be on the same page and know what time and when they are needed. I already have connections with the volunteers I want to use which will help with saving time during my production.

January to Late February: Contact and gain have written permission of my volunteers. Organise schedule and book photography and radio studio.

Late February to Early March: Production! All 10 volunteers photos and interviews done.

Middle March to Early April: Edit photos, link audio using Blippar and start building the website.

Middle April to 1th May: Launch website and test everything is working. Get all the photos printed for the exhibition.

May and onwards: Distribution, Exhibition.

This schedule helps me use all the time I have to make this project successful and liable in case anything was to go wrong. I want my project to be the highest quality of work I have achieved and the time layout gives me the maximum opportunity. It is temporary and any amendment that needs to be made will proceed into finalising the schedule.

As I have had this idea since the start of the academic year I have been planning for a while and have been able to secure 10 volunteers to help me on making this project possible. I had the pleasure of meeting them on the Changing Lives Program I attended in November with Coventry University. These 10 girls are from various backgrounds from North Korea, India, Pakistan, Hungry, Ireland, Poland, Romania, Latvia, China and Italy. Along the journey of going to Morocco I have established and built a relationship with these girls and many have amazing stories to tell. They all are very interested in my idea and I hope to use this opportunity to share their stories.

If for any reason one of them decides to not be a part of my project, through the process of organising my schedule will get in touch with the many cultural societies that Coventry University have. (Cusu.org, n.d.) I will try and prepare for any outcome to still have a successful project.

I have developed professional relationships with my classmates to be able to have help during the production. The more people I have on set the quicker I can save time. I also know their reputation, which will keep me more secure from issues arising.  I am planning on having a lighting technician to help light my subject as quickly as possible because the set up will be different from person to person. As the project develops and I need more people I can secure second year Coventry University students that I have worked with before through Fresh@CU. I know reliable people that will help me make this project the highest quality of work.

For this project, securing locations, for example, a photography and radio studio it is very important. To suit my budget I am planning on using the universities radio and photography studio.

It is very easy to travel to for not only for me but also for my volunteers. Ellen Terry is the ideal place to be able to use for the production.

As for the exhibition, I have been looking at booking studios to display my work like The Glass Box and The Herbert. However, it is not certain it is available and how much it will be at this point. I have heard that Fargo Village is used for photography student’s degree show that could be a space to consider.

I am planning on using my degree show to launch my exhibition and get feedback from my audience and then according to my feedback I will expand into different areas of Coventry.

It is very important to be able to get written permission to protect yourself from any disagreements. Contracts help to create an understanding of what both parties are receiving from the agreement. I will need contracts and consent forms from volunteers and contracts for crew helping on the production. If I book any location for photography or radio purposes I will need a contract from them.

In the pre-production stages, everyone taking part will have to sign either a contract or consent form or sometimes both. It helps to secure that I am the owner of the photos, I have consent to use their photo and sound and specify what will happen to the photos and audio. I will appear more professional. If any disputes arise during the contract it can be dealt with then and there to avoid wasting time during my schedule.

I have written many of my own contracts and have experience with dealing with clients that are not from the media background. This gives me the advantage to writing up a good contract to benefit my volunteers and me. There are many template contracts online that I could use to make my own and also Coventry University have provided a consent form template.

Permission and Copyright are very important to any production and I have many experiences dealing with writing and communicating to clients. It will secure me from any potential problem of the ownership and or usage of any material after the document has been signed. I want to make sure that my production with goes smoothly and every contract and permission is gained before any progress is made. It makes me look professional, reliable and moral person to be able to work with.

Budget

Permission and copyrights

I have researched into many different aspects of the equipment to the studios that will need to make this project come to life. I have created a budget breakdown of all the costs to be able to see a rough budget on how much this project will cost me. The areas that need to be covered are equipment, locations, crew, catering and possible transport costs.

I have created an industry standard budget list from different sources to show a realistic budget of how much it would cost in the media industry.

As I am a university student, many of the facilities are provided and I don’t have a lot of money to make this project come to life. To suit my pocket, I have created a separate budget sheet to show how much I will have to spend and possibly fundraise for. I will be using friends were necessary is I am in need of a crew and also will rent equipment if it is not provided in the photography studio at my university. Below is the list of the amount would expect to budget for.

Nothing is certain as of yet so the outcome may be higher or lower than expected due to the exhibition being uncertain at this point. But it is a starting point to be able to start fundraising.

To fund raise I am planning on spreading the message through social media to support me through websites like indie go go or Kick-starter. It allows me to pitch my idea using video as my visual material and establishes my project visually with the test material. It also encourages donations because there will be perks available to people who donate.

Realistically I think this project can be a success and can gain exposure through social media and I can make this project come to life.
